Thomas E. Armstrong, 78 of Streator passed away Friday (July 30, 2021) surrounded by his loving family.
Private family services will be held with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and VFW.
Tom was born on July 19, 1943, in Streator to Eddie and Millie (Abbott) Armstrong. He married Karen Scott on January 20, 1967. She preceded him in death on August 28, 1996.
Surviving are his children; Shawn Armstrong of Orofino, ID, Deborah (Kevin) Porter of Streator, Thomas S. (Amy) Armstrong of San Tan Valley, AZ, Shari Berry of Long Point, and Edward A. (Tisha) Armstrong of Streator, 9 grandchildren, Kayla, Kolton, and Matthew Armstrong, Alisha (Vince) Chan, Amanda (Nikolai) Beyer, Karilyn and Hope Porter, Saxon Mabberly and Rustle Wendler, 3 great-grandchildren, sisters, Lucinda Dittmer of Streator and Mary Lou (Rich) Hillier of AZ, in-laws, Sharon (Dave) Yedinak of Streator and Cliff (Sharon) Scott of AZ, several nieces and nephews and also his 4 legged best friend Brownie.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, wife Karen, son-in-law Jason Berry, brother, Ron Armstrong, sister, Lynne Fulkerson and sister-in-law Eva Humphrey.
Tom attended Streator grade schools and Streator High School. He served in the US Army from 1961 until 1963. Tom retired from the trucking industry in 2009. Tom in his younger years enjoyed boxing, go cart and stock car racing. He was also a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Tom was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, and uncle. He will be loved and missed by his family and everyone that knew him.
Memorials may be made in his name to any Veterans Organization.
