Velma L. Gmelich

Velma L. Gmelich, 93 of Ancona passed away Monday (April 24^th) at Parker Nursing and Rehabilitation Care Center.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 – 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.   Funeral services will be held Thursday at noon at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Long Point Cemetery.

Velma was born on August 19, 1923 in Streator to Clarence and Bessie (Hammack) Van Meter.  She married Christ R. Gmelich on October 5, 1946.  He preceded her in death on May 17, 1990.

Surviving are son Richard Gmelich of Ancona, daughter-in-law Jean Gmelich of Streator and a sister Shirley (Russell) Carlson of Abingdon and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son Robert, brother Gerald Van Meter and sister Beulah Cool.

Velma graduated from Streator High School and attended Browns Business College. She was a member of the Ancona Church of Christ and she also enjoyed doing ceramics.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
