Veretta G Janke

Veretta G. Janke, 82 of Streator and formerly of Grand Ridge passed away Wednesday evening (December 5^th) at her home.

Following cremation, a visitation will be held Monday from 10 AM -12noon at the Grand Ridge Funeral Home.  Services will be held Monday at noon at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Veretta was born on June 23, 1936 in Streator to Charles and Verona (King) Richards Sr.  She married Ronald K. Janke on December 11, 1985.  He preceded her in death on March 21, 2012.

Surviving are sons Phillip Scudder of Montague, MI, Victor (Karrie) Scudder of Lowell, MI and Jesse (Marcia) Scudder of Bear Lake, MI, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, brothers Charles (Phyllis) Richards Jr. of Streator and Jack (Terry) Richards of Streator and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Veretta graduated from Streator High School in 1954.  She was formerly employed at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and TOPS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grand Ridge Fire Department.
