Violet Ruth Cook, 102 of Spring Valley and formerly of Streator passed away Monday (November 9th) at Heritage Health, Peru.
A visitation will be held Friday (November 13th) from 10 – 11 AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Ted and Tim Promenschenkel, great-grandsons, Jeremy Estes, Ken Artman, Damien Russell and great-grandson-in-law, Mike Davis.
Violet was born on May 15, 1913 in Streator to John and Elizabeth (Peacock) Wirick. She married Lyell Edwin Cook on May 22, 1931 and he passed away in October of 1978.
Surviving are daughters; Elizabeth Moore of Streator and Ruth Irwin of Oglesby, 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.
Violet is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Rosemary Promenschenkel, son David Lyell Cook in infancy, granddaughters, Janice Promenschenkel, Gloria Melchers, great-grandsons, Keith Promenschenkel, Michael and Luke Milashoski in infancy.
She attended Streator High School and retired 1975 from St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley as dietary supervisor. Violet was affiliated with the Spring Valley United Church of Christ.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors’ choice.
